You may have witnessed Zoe Smith break the British record for the Clean and Jerk in the London 2012 games. Weightlifting as a sport consists of two lifts known as the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk. What most of you won’t know is that so many athletes and sports stars also perform these lifts of aspects of these lifts to help improve their athletic performance.

Here are five benefits of Olympic Weightlifting

1. Uses every muscle group through the movements.
2. Great crossover to sport as it teaches your body to fire all muscle fibres at once to create power.
